New Vision!

Many studies reflect that South Carolina leads the Nation in education, but in the wrong way. Depending on the source, we are “ranked” from number 43-49 in the Nation.

We have school board members that have served on the board for a decade or more, but nothing new has been implemented.

We need new ideas, new vision and action.

My mission is to create the most exceptional school district in the State of South Carolina, measurable by our Return on Investment…our kids!

Create a new financial model that will account for the future

County Council and the School Board have failed us this past thirty years, and we still do not have funds needed to properly run and maintain our schools. Any wonder why we have continuing bond referendums? Out of a 260 million dollar annual budget, approximately eighty percent is applied to payroll, while the rest supports operations. This model is unsustainable as it does not account for maintenance or growth, nor does is place enough emphasis on creating opportunity for our children. Our budget needs to consider a twenty year plan and place our kids first. We also need to develop creative revenue streams that will alleviate the tax burden upon our community.

A Shield of Protection

This is a simple promise that I will never institute any policy or enforce any action that will harm our children. I will be a shield against DEI, CRT, SEL, Pornography, Drugs, bad actors, and anti-American mandates. I am in favor of parental involvement, and respect the parental right to direct the upbringing, education, and care of their minor children.

Implement Design-Based Innovation

Would you like to actually have students eager to attend school? Then lets make them interesting! Function and form play a critical role in how our children are taught and inspired. We have had the same old tired designs handed down one project after another. Who says a classroom has to be a square box? I will challenge our design teams in new ideas to promote inspirational education, opportunity, and maximize building efficiency. This will have a huge impact on our budget.

A well designed facility will promote diverse curriculums and pathways, that accentuate applied learning to stimulate our children’s passions. Lets bring back civics, debate, philosophy, student government, and foundational education. Lets get our business community involved, and promote career choice and development.

Innovative settings will help our children discover their passions. We place too much focus on testing, and not enough focus on creativity. From an early age, we have to show our kids what is out there, and let our teaching awaken their potential.
